Tourism employment in México rises to 4 million 552 thousand people in the third quarter of the year / @TorrucoTurismo @SECTUR_mx >>>

#SECTUR.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) indicated that in the July-September 2022 period, tourism employment represented 8.8% of national employment.

He highlighted that the recovery in tourism employment continues, showing, from July to September 2022, a growth of 1.2%, equivalent to 55 thousand 317 more people employed, compared to the 4 million 497 thousand people of the previous quarter.

Torruco Marqués pointed out that in its annual comparative, an increase of 427 thousand 430 people employed in the sector producing tourism goods and services was observed, equivalent to a growth of 10.4% with respect to the third quarter of 2021.

He emphasized that tourism employment as of the third quarter of 2022, exceeded by 1.4%, that is, 64 thousand 747 people, the historical figure recorded for the number of people employed in the tourism sector as of the first quarter of 2020, prior to the pandemic, when 4 million 487 thousand people were employed.

The calculation of Tourism Employment as of the third quarter of 2022 was made based on INEGI’s National Occupation and Employment Survey (New Edition) (ENOEN) and the methodology approved by the Specialized Technical Committee for Economic Statistics in the Tourism Sector (CTEEEST), made up of INEGI, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and SECTUR.
